BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Andrew Abouchar

Andrew Abouchar brings over 12 years of venture capital experience to his role at Tech Capital. Portfolio companies benefit from his solid understanding of the commercialization opportunities in high-tech markets, extensive transactional experience and network of industry contacts.

Andrew has held executive positions and served on the boards of numerous technology companies, including Covarity Inc., Sirific Wireless Corp., Sidense Corp. and VideoLocus Inc. He also sits on the Council for Examiners for the CFA Institute and is frequently asked to lecture on early stage technology business and financing. Andrew has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and is both a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Chartered Accountant.
Scott T. Becker

Scott T. Becker joined the board of Sidense in March, 2005. He has over 20 years of experience in the Semiconductor Industry. He spent 13 years as CTO and director of Artisan Components. Prior to this, he was a circuit design manager at Mentor Graphics, a circuit design engineer at Silicon Compilers and a product engineer at Signetics Corporation. He currently holds 25 semiconductor-related patents and serves on four technical advisory boards. He holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

W. Robert Genieser

Rob Genieser joined Vertex in 2002 as Managing Partner. Prior to joining Vertex, Mr. Genieser was a Managing Director of Hambrecht & Quist, which he joined in 1996 in their San Francisco office. While in Silicon Valley, he managed the Firm's wireless, optical and communications software practices. In this capacity, he sponsored the Firm's investments into Chromatis (acquired by Lucent), Paragon Software (acquired by Openwave) and Wavtrace (acquired by Harris). Additionally, Rob executed the IPOs of Portal Software, ONI systems, Corvis, Openwave and INET, amongst others. In the M&A field, Rob assisted VisionTech on its sale to Broadcom, I-compression on its sale to Globespan, Herrmann Technology on its sale to Lucent, Terayon on its acquisition of Telegate and MoreCom on its sale to Liberate. Shortly after Hambrecht & Quist's merger with JP Morgan at the end of 2000, Mr. Genieser moved to London to run the company's emerging technology practice for Europe and Israel. Earlier in his career, Mr. Genieser worked as a consultant for Bain & Company in San Francisco, where he focused on the telecommunications industry. Prior to receiving his MBA, he worked for Morgan Stanley in both New York and Hong Kong as a member of the corporate restructuring group. Mr. Genieser received both his AB (cum Laude) and MBA from Harvard University.

David L. Lyon

Dave Lyon brings to the Sidense board the experience gained from his diverse career as an entrepreneur, operating executive, and technologist in the fields of telecommunications and semiconductors. He has served as CEO of two early stage companies, as VP/GM of successful operating units within larger established firms, and as a Board Director for both public and private enterprises. Earlier in his career as a technologist he published and lectured extensively and is named as an inventor on seven US patents. Dave earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Wayne Cantwell

Wayne Cantwell joined Crescendo Ventures in early 2003 after spending nearly 20 years in the semiconductor and SIP industries. Immediately prior to Crescendo, Wayne served as President and CEO of inSilicon Corporation where he led the company through an IPO and several successful acquisitions. Before assuming the role of CEO at inSilicon, Wayne was responsible for overseeing Phoenix Technologies' worldwide field operations where he grew the organization to over 400 people and $125 million in globally distributed business. Wayne has extensive international experience, having run operations in Japan, Taiwan, and Europe but has spent most of the last seven years based in the Bay Area. Prior to his role with Phoenix Technologies, Wayne held various sales and engineering positions with Intel Corporation and NEC Corporation. At Crescendo, Wayne is focused on working with companies in the semiconductor, SIP and technical software arenas as well as providing operational experience and support to Crescendo's portfolio companies.

Dr. Jonathan Rose

Jonathan Rose is a Professor and Chair of the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1986 from the University of Toronto and later was a Post-Doctoral Scholar and Research Associate in the Computer Systems Laboratory at Stanford University. He spent a year as a Senior Research Scientist at Xilinx, in San Jose, CA, working on the Virtex FPGA architecture. In October 1998, he co-founded Right Track CAD Corporation, which delivered architecture for FPGAs and Packing, Placement and Routing software for FPGAs. He was President and CEO of Right Track until May 1, 2000 when Right Track was purchased by Altera and continued to be a Senior Director and Senior Research Scientist until 2004. His group at Altera Toronto shared responsibility for the development of the architecture for the Altera Stratix, Stratix II, Stratix GX and Cyclone FPGAs. His group was also responsible for placement, routing, delay annotation software and benchmarking for these devices, and for the placement and routing software for the Altera Apex 20K and Flex 10K FPGAs. He is the co-founder of the ACM FPGA Symposium, and has been an NSERC University Research Fellow. His research covers all aspects of FPGAs including their architecture, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Field-Programmable Systems, Soft Processors, and graphics, vision and bio-informatic applications of programmable hardware.

Ronald Thompson

Ron Thompson is a founder of CAIL - a Toronto based technology company that specializes in advanced connectivity solutions. After attending York University and prior to forming CAIL, Mr. Thompson gained a decade of progressive systems and business experiences with the University of Toronto and the Toronto Stock Exchange. With this background and having made many investments over the years, founders are able to benefit with Ron's extensive entrepreneurial insights, knowledge of applying technology to enhance business processes, establishing business development plans, and the ability to contribute to corporate strategic direction. Mr. Thompson's investment focus is in companies with intellectual property that provide important benefits to customers including: increasing revenue, delivering competitive advantage, improving operational efficiency and profitability.
