Sidense Ending the Year on a High Note
Xerxes Wania, President and CEO, Sidense
With Sidense's fiscal year ending on Sept. 30, it is a pleasure to review a few highlights of the past 12 months.
Sidense is now over 7 years old, and the past year has been one of remarkable milestones in our company's growth. In addition to closing the year with record bookings for 1T-OTP licenses, we recently licensed our 1T-OTP macros to our 100th customer. In the past year we have also broadened the process node availability from 180nm to 28nm and now support more than 10 foundry partners and IDMs.
Sidense's Potential Place in 2.5D and 3D Designs
By Herb Reiter, President, eda 2 asic Consulting
Smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks and other electronic products we use in our daily lives consume more than half of the worldwide semiconductor production today and represent significant growth opportunities for the IC industry.
Continued shrinking of feature sizes has enabled our industry for several decades to offer customers both better products and lower prices. Consumers expect this trend to continue. In other words, every new generation of these products needs to be smaller and lighter, smarter and easier to use, offer longer battery life and, of course, all of these features and more at lower cost to the consumer.
However, continued shrinking of feature sizes into the twenties and even tens of nanometers is becoming much more difficult and results in longer development times, higher development cost and most importantly, higher unit cost.
